J.W. Symington IV (b. 1986) is an American philosopher and poet. He earned his B.A. in Philosophy with honors from Stony Brook University, an M.A. in Philosophy with honors from The New School for Social Research, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing as a Poetry Fellow at Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy, Art, and Critical Thought with honors from the European Graduate School. ​He is currently an Associate Professor of Philosophy and English at San Diego City College.
